HDR is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer for our Structures Group to be based out of our Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando, Miami or Fort Lauderdale office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques
  • Serve in a lead technical role (EOR) on bridge design projects
  • Perform complex structural planning, analysis, design, and construction support for all structural aspects of transportation projects.
  • Serve as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (curved & straight steel plate/box girder and prestressed concrete), box culvert, and retaining wall design for highway projects
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • PE license and ability to achieve reciprocity within approximately 6 months
  • A minimum of 10 years of bridge design experience, including steel bridge design experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in all aspects and phases (from preliminary planning through construction) of bridge design projects.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software and MicroStation,
  • Proficiency using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Experience managing junior staff
  • Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects
  • Excellent communication skills and working in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Flexibility to perform other related duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • A minimum of 15 years of bridge design experience is preferred
  • Experience with FDOT is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, AASHTOWare BrR, Midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, Mathcad, Larsa, and CSiBridge
  • Experience with Design/Build projects is a plus
